Office of the Provost

Committees and Reports

The Office of the Provost oversees committees, task forces and working groups that examine issues related to the academic and fiscal health of the University. Made up of faculty, staff and students from across Brown, these groups make recommendations that may prompt shifts in operations, new initiatives, or action plans that reflect or inform University priorities.

Standing Committees

The Academic Priorities Committee (APC), chaired by the provost, provides oversight of academic programs and is responsible for making recommendations to the president concerning the growth and allocation of resources in support of education and research. The committee is composed of six faculty members and six senior academic administrators.
The University Resources Committee is chaired by the provost and composed of faculty, students and administrators, reflecting Brown’s shared governance model, and is responsible for recommending Brown’s annual operating and capital budget to the president.
Several committees — including the Capital Planning Committee, Capital Planning Working Group and Space Committee — provide oversight of and input into capital projects at Brown, ensuring alignment with University goals.
