Provost Francis J. Doyle III
Francis J. Doyle III is a professor of Engineering and the 14th provost of Brown University. As the University's chief academic officer and chief budget officer, Doyle works closely with the president to advance the University’s mission of teaching, research and service. The provost is responsible for ensuring academic excellence and sound budgetary practices across the full range of programs in academic departments, research centers and interdisciplinary institutes.

The Office of the Provost oversees committees, task forces and working groups that examine issues related to the academic and fiscal health of the University. Made up of faculty, staff and students from across Brown, these groups make recommendations that may prompt shifts in operations, new initiatives, or action plans that reflect or inform University priorities.
